By some definitions, the Amazon River is also the longest river in the world - while the Nile River is generally considered to be the world's longest, some studies suggest an alternative source for the Amazon River, which would actually make it the world's longest. Languages South America is a multilingual continent. In the northwest it is joined to North America by the Isthmus of Panama , a land bridge narrowing to about 50 miles 80 km at one point.
The same thing goes for areas close to the Equator, including the Amazon Rainforest. Measurable rain falls on an average of days a year here, and total rainfall often approaches inches per year. The images in many areas are detailed enough that you can see houses, vehicles and even people on a city street. Dutch is spoken in Suriname.
